CDP Team Spotlight
Chris Fitzgerald, Business Data Segmentation Manager
Tell us what you do at CDP and what a typical day might look like for you:
My day in the life of the Business Data Segmentation Manager usually starts by checking in with the Business Data Operations (BDO) team and reviewing any cases related to segmentation data. If the day is real fun, there might be updates to our data models or query development. The BDO team members live and work across multiple time zones — Eastern, Central, Arizona and Pacific — so occasionally some of us start the day a bit earlier in our local time zone to help connect with one another and be on for those important early meetings.
BDO delivers the data that drives the MSB Co-op direct mail solicitation programs at CDP. We work closely with the Marketing team to build data models and outputs aligned with the strategy and budgets for each of the MSB Co-op stations. We integrate data from external sources like ROI Predictive Insights to boost the effectiveness of the CDP mail programs and ensure our MSB Co-op stations get great results!
What inspires/excites you about your work?
I fell in love with public media when I moved to Minnesota in 2005 and started listening to Minnesota Public Radio. I eventually landed a job there and have been deeply invested and committed to contributing professionally to public media organizations ever since, having also worked at Twin Cities PBS for several years prior to joining CDP in August of last year. The amazing team of talented and mission-driven colleagues I’ve met at CDP is a big part of why I feel so connected with our work. I am excited and inspired to build and scale our data delivery capabilities to better serve our clients!
If you weren't working at CDP, what would your dream job be?
I’m pretty passionate about public media and nonprofit work, so being part of the CDP team fits with my dream job quite nicely! Off the clock, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, cooking meals and baking treats for my friends and family, and would be quite happy creating delicious things for a living!
What are you watching/streaming/reading/listening to these days?
I never miss an episode of Radiolab or The Splendid Table! I’m also starting a fresh book, “The Slip” by Lucas Schaefer, for book club, having just finished “The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig last month. And Season 18 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” just started, so start your engines!
What's something you've always wanted to try or learn to do?
I haven’t played a musical instrument since sixth grade band when I was assigned the alto saxophone and think that would be a worthy endeavor to explore again one day!
